The Peter Tranchell bequest, comprising his writings, papers, musical manuscripts and music written by him, was transferred to the Cambridge University Library in 1994.
The bequest consists of three principal collections:
- Autograph manuscript music composed by Peter Tranchell. These may be searched via the University Library IDiscover Catalogue (this hyperlink opens a broad search for all things "Peter Tranchell" - use the facilities of the site to refine the search).
- Personal papers and correspondence, for which the catalogue may be accessed and searched here https://archivesearch.lib.cam.ac.uk/repositories/2/resources/13407.
- Tapes with recordings of performances of Peter Tranchell’s compositions.
The autograph manuscript music and tape recordings have been individually catalogued, are available on the University Library’s Online Catalogue, and have the classmark of MS.Tranchel1.1.1-. The tape recordings have been transferred to CD which may be listened to in the Anderson Room.
The Catalogue of Papers deals solely with personal papers and correspondence, and may be consulted in the Manuscripts Room at the University Library – it is not part of the Online Catalogue. Some of the material, including much correspondence of a sensitive nature, is closed until 1 January 2071.
